The Free Hiker 2 wasn’t the only thing announced by adidas TERREX in recent months. At the end of the summer, the sub-label launched its new venture: United by Summits. Presented with an accompanying short film, the campaign aims to make the outdoors a more inclusive space by “celebrating all the different personal heights that people reach every day”. Through this, the Three Stripes invite adventurers – whether alone or in groups – to apply to have their own climb, expedition or project funded and supported by the My Summits initiative.

“The outdoors should be accessible to everyone,” says adidas TERREX Managing Director Carla Murphy, explaining the idea behind United by Summits. “At adidas TERREX, we’re on a mission to change the way the outdoors is portrayed, to challenge the notion of what makes a summit, and to connect more people to nature. To do this, we celebrate all different peaks that people reach each time they go on an adventure, regardless of the ascent, as well as the various communities, groups and individuals who reach their goals each day.In presenting these personal peaks, we believe that we we can challenge norms and expectations of what the outdoors means and encourage and invite more people to get out and connect with nature to experience what their own personal high is like.

Applications are currently online and can be submitted from August 18 to October 14. After the deadline, a team of judges will select three winners in three separate categories: adventure, community and sustainability. This trio of projects will then see the light of day in the first half of 2023.
