Dreaming of an Isabel Marant leather jumpsuit for fall?
Working at vogue means that some days getting dressed can be a little difficult. Especially as the days get colder, outfits tend to get lazier and by the end of October I’m wearing basically the same rotation of knit sweaters and jeans. This fall, I hope to step up my style and channel that kind of bohemian-French energy that Isabel Marant is known for with this unique leather jumpsuit from her fall collection.
Now, leather for fall is definitely not revolutionary. But while classic black and brown leather has its place, burnt orange is definitely one of the most coveted colors this season. It can be scary to go for such a bold shade on an investment leather piece, but that’s exactly why it would become a forever staple in my closet. (If Marant has managed to bring back the wedge sneaker decade after decade, I trust him on that too.)
And unlike faux leather which can sometimes overheat even on the coldest days, lamb leather won’t make you sweat. I know I’d look cool wearing it with a fuzzy mohair knit in a monochromatic color scheme, like they did on the runway; or I layered it with another Fall Holy Grail item like a classic button. Marant paired it with a knee-high leather boot, but I think trainers might be a better choice for me – maybe even a wedge trainer!
A visit to Paris seems unlikely in the near future, but perhaps this combination can help me channel some of that French energy as I walk down Broadway toward 1WTC.
