KidSuper Unveils 3D Printed Heeled Shoe Concept With Zellerfeld
Another day, another chapter in the epic sneaker heel saga. This time KidSuper entered the chat.
However, the 2022 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist makes a case for the 1970s men’s dress shoe, which featured generous platform heels that imposed a confident presence on the dance floor and even in the corporate sphere. .
After Zellerfeld brought Heron Preston’s HERON01s and even ClaySuper slides to life, KidSuper once again turned to the 3D printing aces to bring their unique shoe concept to life.
And so, KidSuper men’s dress shoes were born!
Making its way onto KidSuper’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway, the “Heal Your Soul, Heel Your Sole” shoe materializes as a 3D-printed eco-heeled sneaker outfitted with a “fully functional” heel, according to the press release. of the brand.
Dressed in an eye-catching royal blue colourway, the custom shoe from the art studio run by Colm Dillane somehow reminds me of Givenchy’s soleless TK-360 trainers.
Much like the TK-360, KidSuper’s custom runner boasts a structural and contemporary shape complemented by a chunky round heel.
It’s worth pointing out that KidSuper’s latest shoe design is made of a single material, despite the appearance of a large amount of textures. This intentional design technique results in varying depths and different print finishes, highlighting the endless possibilities of 3D printing for the future field of footwear.
Known for approaching fashion design through an artistic lens, KidSuper expands on their love for portraits – evident in previous collections like their FW20 collection – by incorporating sculpted faces on the shoe’s vamp and heel.
Unfortunately, the KidSuper “Heal Your Soul, Heel Your Sole” collaboration is only a concept shoe (for now), as a release date has yet to be revealed for this face shoe.
However, for those looking to channel your inner Anderson .Paak with this ’70s-inspired shoe next summer, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for updates.
