All kinds of cuts were on display during the first full week of the season. Mother’s Day was last Sunday, and some players took the opportunity to don mom-centric outfits. Other athletes have nodded to pop culture by honoring movies and TV shows with their clothes. Additionally, leather ensembles, casual outfits, and even brightly colored tracksuits have been popping up on the pre-game red carpet.
One player literally took fashion into her own hands, donning self-designed pieces on the pre-game runway.
Here’s a look at some of the most eye-catching cuts from the past week across the WNBA:
Diggins-Smith’s cut on Saturday resembled Keanu Reeves’ iconic character, Neo, from “The Matrix.” She played with resemblance, quoting a classic line of the movie.
The Sun’s team colors are white, blue and orange, but Thomas opted for a lime green look paired with a Louis Vuitton handbag ahead of Saturday’s game with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Billings worked the pre-game red carpet before the Dream took on the Ace of Las Vegas with her plush pink outfit.
Clark made her Mystics debut on Friday night after being absent since March 2021 due to a Lisfranc injury. She came dressed to impress, donning a multicolored dress with a sleek handbag.
Harrison showed off with her trendy outfit on Friday, opting for a casual look while tanned.
On May 7, Harrison and his teammate Collier set fire to the powder before their fight against the Dream. Harrison opted for an all-leather ensemble, with the top being a jersey of Chicago Bulls legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan. Collier rocked a Gucci tracksuit and stylish sunglasses.
On Friday, Wilson wore a pin reading “We are BG” in support Phoenix Mercury star Britney Griner. Griner has been detained in Russia since February and her detention has been extended for another 30 days Friday.
Colson rocked quirky pants that featured ruffles on the outside leg, which stood out from his hoodie and sneakers. His teammate Hamby wore leather thigh high boots with an Essentials brand t-shirt from fashion designer Jerry Lorenzo.
Before the Las Vegas game against the Mystics on Tuesday, Colson donned a Mighty Ducks jersey paired with white Nike Air Force 1s.
The day before, rookies Bell and Sheppard showed their love on two Nickelodeon shows with their backpacks. Bell’s bag featured characters from “Paw Patrol”, while Sheppard’s characters from “Baby Shark’s Big Show”.
Wilson’s Mother’s Day look suited the occasion. On her shirt was a photo of her as a baby and her mother, Eva. On the back, it was written “Eva Tha Diva”. His footwear was also on point, sporting a pair of retro Jordan 11s in the “Concord” colorway. Wilson’s mother couldn’t help herself enjoying her daughter’s wardrobe selection.
Parker honored lateLos Angeles Lakerslegend and Basketball Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant with his pregame clothes. Ahead of his team’s Wednesday game against the Minnesota Lynxshe rocked a T-shirt with several photos of Bryant and his daughter Gianna on it.
On Tuesday, Henderson arrived at the Fever game taking over her clothing line. She wore the green and black version of the “Keep It HP” shirt with aNew York Yankeesfitted cap. Her brand,Clothing by HP, produces shirts, sweatpants, tracksuits and more. She designs the clothes herself, one of her first products being stockings that honored Bryant.
